✨ The Sugar Plum Party Presented by The Theatre & Dance Academy at River Mills Ballroom, Selby 🎄 What is The Sugar Plum Party? Step into the sparkle of The Nutcracker! The Sugar Plum Party is a magical one-hour Christmas dance adventure designed especially for children aged 3–6. Through imaginative storytelling, music and movement, little dancers will twirl with Clara, march with the Toy Soldier, and journey to the Land of Sweets - finishing with a delicious treat to take home. No dance experience is needed - just bring your Christmas sparkle and enthusiasm! 👩‍🏫 Who’s running the event? The Sugar Plum Party is brought to you by The Theatre & Dance Academy, led by our experienced, fully qualified dance teacher Gemma Fisher who works for The Royal Ballet School. All TDA staff hold enhanced DBS certification and follow our strict safeguarding policy to ensure every child feels safe, supported, and inspired throughout the session. 📍 Where is it happening? The event will take place at the beautiful River Mills Ballroom, Selby. Address: River Mills Ballroom, Ousegate, Selby, YO8 4NJ 🚗 What about parking? There is free parking available on site, or alternatively, you can park at Selby Train Station, just a 2-minute walk around the corner. 🚆 Can I get there by public transport? Yes! River Mills Ballroom is located just a short walk from Selby Train & Bus Station, making it easily accessible by train or bus. 👗 What should my child wear? Children are welcome to wear festive clothes, their favourite dance outfit, or anything they feel comfortable moving in. Ballet shoes or soft-soled shoes are ideal, but socks are perfectly fine too. 🕐 How long is the session? Each session lasts 1 hour — the perfect length for our youngest dancers to stay engaged and enchanted from start to finish. 💫 What will they do? Children will: •Learn and dance to beautiful music from The Nutcracker •Explore the story through creative movement and imagination •Meet and dance with special festive characters •Take home a sweet treat at the end Safeguarding and child protection The safety and well-being of our students is always our top priority. All Theatre & Dance Academy staff have enhanced DBS checks, follow our full safeguarding policy (available on request), and are trained to create a nurturing and inclusive environment. 📸 Photography and filming We may take photos or short video clips during the event for use on The Theatre & Dance Academy’s website and social media. Consent will be requested on the day — if you prefer not to have your child photographed, please just let us know on arrival. ⏰ Late arrivals Please arrive at 10am we allow 15 minutes to get settled, meet our team, and start the magic on time at 10.15am If you’re running late, don’t worry - we’ll make sure your child joins the fun as smoothly as possible. The event ends at 11.30 🍫 Do I need to bring anything? No - everything is provided! Just bring a smile, a sense of adventure, and get ready for some Christmas sparkle.
